Navigater Product Tour

Discover key features that streamline case management across your clients

1. Structured intake: capture the right information from the start

When a client calls requesting help, whether it be it lateness, misconduct, non-performance or sick leave concerns, navigater makes it easy to create a new case and guide you through a structured intake process. Our guided process ensures you capture all vital details from the outset, laying the foundation for a fair and compliant process.

2. Case management

Get a clear, at-a-glance view of every active case across all your clients. See risk levels, outstanding tasks and case status, so you always know what needs attention.

Every case has its own dedicated space with a full exportable timeline, case summary, task list, chat function and all case-related documents stored together. Navigater integrates with Outlook, so emails can be assigned and saved to the relevant case as you send them. No more searching through emails, folders, or shared drives.

3. Tasks: know what’s due and who’s doing It

Create tasks and assign them to your team, contractors, or clients and set deadlines. Every task across every case is brought together in one ordered list, ranked by urgency and risk. This ensures high-priority work never gets buried, deadlines aren’t missed and you can set delivery of work expectations with your clients.

4. Team view: manage workloads across your business

See what every consultant or contractor is working on, how many cases they’re managing and whether anything is overdue. If someone is unavailable, reassign tasks or add a contributor so work never stalls.

5. Client portal: extend the value you provide

Clients have their own secure login with visibility of their cases and a direct line to you. This is where navigater becomes more than just a practice management tool. It becomes a seamless extension of the service you offer, giving your clients a system that keeps them organised, compliant, and confident.

From their portal, clients can raise HR requests, work alongside you within the case management portal, assign tasks to you or complete the ones you’ve assigned to them, and track progress every step of the way. All employee details, agreements, position descriptions, payroll information and company documents are stored securely in one place. Less back-and-forth. More visibility and time on the work that matters.

6. Template library

Access a library of ready-to-use employment relations templates, from warning letters to performance improvement plans, or store your own. Consistent, compliant and always on hand.

7. Time tracking: one invoice, no chasing

Log time against specific cases and clients as you work or add it after the fact. Whether one person handled a case or three, all time is captured in the same place and consolidated into one clean invoice at the end of the month. No chasing timesheets or manually entering hours from multiple contractors. Simple, no double handling and easy to track.

8. Comprehensive case history and audit trail

Every action, document and decision is recorded, from the first contact through every step that follows. When a case escalates or a personal grievance lands, you have a complete, timestamped record ready to go, without spending hours piecing it together. This provides full transparency and complete historical record for compliance.

9. Reporting: understand your business at a glance

See trends across your caseload – what types of issues are coming up most, which clients are most active and where your team’s time is going. Useful for planning, marketing, business development and demonstrating value to clients.

Meet Jo.

Founder. Builder. Human behind the tech.

I grew up in sunny Nelson and am passionate about fishing, hiking, travelling, diving and spending time with family!

With a background in Psychology and Human Resources, I’ve spent years working across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, supporting people through some of their toughest moments at work. I’ve supported over 300 small and medium-sized businesses across New Zealand, helping them navigate people challenges with confidence, fairness and care.

That experience is exactly what shaped navigater.

I know what it’s like to juggle 30+ active employment relations cases, field calls from clients mid-task and carry the weight of every case detail in your head. I know the risk that comes with multiple cases, scattered information and no clear audit trail and I know how much time gets lost trying to stay on top of it all and how quickly that pressure turns into overwhelm.

I built navigater because I couldn’t find a tool that actually worked for the way consultants and employment lawyers operate. It’s grounded in real-world experience, shaped by conversations with practitioners who needed something better and designed to make caseloads feel manageable.

If you’re juggling cases across multiple clients and you’re ready to scale your business without the burnout, you’re in the right place.

“Having worked with Jo on the development stage of this product and I very excited to see this tool come to life. I feel this will be a game changer for small businesses and business owners trying to navigate through the stormy waters of when it all goes wrong with an employee. This will definitely be an assist and should be the first line of defence for businesses.”

John Sommerfield, Owner of Sprig and Fern Tawa and Berhampore

“From our very first meeting, it was clear that the drive behind navigater comes from a genuine passion for helping businesses navigate their employment relations.
Navigater makes everything easy to understand, clear and never overwhelming. Their support is already adding real value to our business and I’d highly recommend navigater to anyone wanting to set themselves and their business up for success.”

Joanne Davies, Business Manager, Celcrete

“I recently received some HR advice from Jo that was incredibly helpful. Her guidance helped me de-escalate a really tricky situation and it was clear she was drawing on years of experience.

Simply put, staffing issues aren’t much fun, but the support and perspective Jo provided me was invaluable. I’m really grateful for her help.”

Roscoe Price Moor, Founder of Roady

“Employment is such a complex area, not only knowing what the law says about different areas but also how those laws interact with each other. Add to that the things you don’t think of because you haven’t experienced them and it’s daunting to even get started. That’s why I’m so glad to have navigater in my corner”
